Oily Doula Mentorship

In our 4 month Mentorship Program, doulas will be provided with evidence-based information, on-call support, practical tools and an opportunity to develop your skills as a doula. By attending group and one-on-one sessions, you will deepen your understanding of pregnancy, birth and the postpartum period. Part of our time together will consist of learning more about the pelvis and how they baby navigates the body during the birthing time. Within the mentoring group, doulas will have the ability to build relationships with other doulas who may become their backups. Each mentee has the opportunity to extend their program beyond 3 months. At the end of the mentorship program, each doula will have an exit interview to discuss their experience.
Pre- requisites:
Must have attended a doula training OR enrolled in a training in the next 4 months.
Must attend CAB’s Childbirth for Birthworkers Series (if you are not a trained childbirth educator)
Must attend CAB Lactation for Birthworkers or another Lactation for Doulas course (if you don’t have lactation certification)
Books we will discuss:
Monthly group sessions
Mutual support with doulas learning from each other
Discuss questions, concerns and next steps
Goal accountability
Doula practice set up (client resources, website, automation, basic business)
Interviewing and working with clients
Time management and organization
Expectations and realities of birth work
Tips for preparing for client visits and attending births
Debrief births
1 on 1 sessions
Prenatal and Postpartum visit support:
Three virtual 30 minute meetings before or after
During a prenatal or birth
Possibility to observe: one interview, prenatal, and postpartum visit.
Assistance with doula training certification (if applicable)
Letter of recommendation (if applicable)
Unlimited virtual support throughout the program
